Julie Nováková

Julie Nováková is an evolutionary biologist, educator, and award-winning Czech author and editor. After sunset, once the children fall asleep, she transforms into a workaholic and writes. Her fiction in English appeared in Asimov’s, Analog, Clarkesworld, and elsewhere. She has edited three anthologies and writes popular science articles Inverse, Clarkesworld, Analog, and other magazines.

Julie is a recipient of the European fandom’s Encouragement Award and multiple Czech national genre awards. She’s active in science outreach and education, co-leads the outreach group of the European Astrobiology Institute, and is a member of the XPRIZE Sci-fi Advisory Council. She loves consulting science ideas for stories, talking about space missions, our chances of alien life detection, and what science fiction can do for science and vice versa.
