‘llThe Madden franchise is synonymous with video-game football. With more 40 different editions of the game released since the 1980s, the developers behind the sports empire have to consistently find new ways to shake up the experience. Madden 23 aims to take advantage of modern hardware and innovations in scanning technology to create the most realistic and intricate game possible.
When Will Madden 23 be released?
Madden 23 releases on August 19, releasing a full year since the last installment. It can currently be pre-ordered from your console’s store and on Origin, Steam, the Epic Games Store, or the EA app. If you pre-order the title now, you’ll get a series of extras you can’t get anywhere else.
What platforms will Madden 23 be available on?
The football franchise has consistently been released on as many platforms as possible, and this year is a bit of an exception. The game will be playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox X/S.
The Nintendo Switch is missing from this line-up, but it could have to do with hardware limitations. Madden 23 does push the graphical limits of a system — it will be interesting to see how it runs on last-gen hardware.
How many editions of Madden 23 are there?
There are two editions of Madden 23, each with its own pre-order bonuses.
- Standard Edition- This version of the base game is $59.99. Pre-ordering this title on any of the platforms or stores gets you your choice of two Elite Players (one Offensive and one Defensive), All-Madden Gear, and a Madden Strategy Item.
- All Madden Edition- For $99.99, you’ll get pre-release content that allows you to hop into the game three days early and access to exclusive early challenges. For purchasing pre-release, you’ll also earn all of the rewards of the Standard edition alongside 4,600 Madden points and dual entitlement, which means that you can upgrade your PS4 or Xbox One versions of the game to newer gen consoles at no additional cost.
Will Madden 23 introduce any new features?
Madden 23 is jam-packed with new mechanics that redefine how you throw, catch, and save the ball. The new FieldSense gameplay system gives tackles more power, makes footwork more nimble, and allows for more ball control. On top of that, a multitude of gameplay tweaks and reworks aim to make the game feel more realistic.
The single-player mode, Face of the Franchise, allows you to take control of an established NFL player entering the free agency market. It skips the high school and college portions of Madden 22, allowing you to jump straight into the action. You’ll also focus on controlling just one player, rather than having to manipulate an entire team.
Who is on the cover of Madden 23?
For the first time since 2000, John Madden will be featured on the cover of Madden 23. The titular coach who defined a generation of football and Tinactin commercials will be prominently displayed on all three versions of the game. John Madden will also be included as a coach in the title.
Madden 23 comes to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles on August 19.
