American Horror Story: Hotel tells the tale of the Hotel Cortez—a lovely old inn that hosts ghosts, vampires, addicts, and weirdos—which doesn’t mean there isn’t a story taking place….a really bloody, gory story. Here’s a recap of the uglier moments from Episode 11 “Battle Royale”—and there are lots:

Liz (Denis O’Hare) and Iris (Kathy Bates) go to shoot The Countess (Lady Gaga)—and while they do hit her a few times, they totally nail Iris’ son Donovan (Matt Bomer).

They drag Donovan down to the street so he’s not “trapped” in the hotel with the other former lovers of The Countess. He dies in the gutter.

Gaga crawls away to get her bullets picked out with fingers by Sally (Sarah Paulson).

Sally begs Gaga not to die—as Sally seems to still be grieving over that time back in 1993 when she had sex with musicians Nick Harley and Tina Black in a three-way so choice Sally decided to sew herself to the couple during the act—but they then overdosed, leaving her stitched to two people dying, and foaming at the mouth.

..that leads to a hallway full of dead children.

They promise Ramona a meal, and set up hotel guest Gabourey Sidibe, AKA “Queenie” (from American Horror Story: Coven) to serve as a meal—but Queenie’s magic means every time Ramona takes a swipe with a knife, it cuts right back.

Luckily, the ghost of James Patrick March (Evan Peters) shows up to stab Queenie—immune to her backsie powers due to his being already dead.
