LCD Soundsystem to Reunite at Coachella 2016
The disco rockers disbanded in 2011, but media sources confirm the comeback is on.
Following the news that Guns N’ Roses is set to reunite and perform at the 2016 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival comes word that the band LCD Soundsystem will also reform and play the concert fair.
Unlike mainstream rock draw GNR, LCD is a dance rock act that is more of an indie darling—not that it hasn’t garnered recognition by the overall music industry, with three Grammy nominations and a handful of successfully charting singles—but in the domain of college, indie, and alt rock, LCD Soundsystem is generally beloved.
Speculation in October 2015 that the group was coming back together and touring was met with denial by its record label—but The New York Times confirmed Wednesday LCD Soundsystem — following the release of a new song on December 24 — is indeed slated to play Coachella 2016.
As for the band’s representation, no reunion or future live dates have yet to be announced through any of LCD’s social sources, and the group is not listed as an upcoming performer on the Coachella website (but then again, neither is Guns N’ Roses). Coachella is scheduled to run April 15-17 and April 22-24, 2016.
