'Call of Duty: Black Ops III' Launch Trailer Is Next-Level Bonkers
The new 'Call of Duty' lets you play the action movie you've dreamed of in one game.
The next Call of Duty game, Black Ops III, is primed for release on November 6 and the newest launch trailer has thrown in everything, including the kitchen sink, with a remote grenade strapped to the faucet.
The Black Ops franchise, separate from the Modern/Advanced Warfare and Ghosts entries, has rammed headfirst into the future. Robotic soldiers, high-tech bows and arrows (?), and straight-up drones. Going sci-fi began with Black Ops II, which is a left-turn from a series that was first rooted in the Cold War.
Modern Call of Duty games also come with a zombie mode because of course they do. Black Ops first pitted players against undead Nazis, but in Black Ops III they’ve gone to the 1940s, mashing the subtlety of Hitchcock noir with the unsubtle pack of crazed zombies. Why the ‘40s? Why not is the better question.
The trailer also briefly showed off new gameplay mechanics; running up the wall is going to be a new way to get pissed off at 14-year-olds with too much free time.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III comes out November 6 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, and PC. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will not include the story mode campaign.
