Netflix Drops New Full 'Jessica Jones' Trailer
The Marvel series debuts on November 20, and the trailer gives us hope.
After a handful of teases that were clever but still left us frustrated, Netflix just released a full trailer for its new Marvel TV series Jessica Jones. Thankfully all we needed to see was some actual footage from the show to determine that, yes, it does in fact look solidly badass.
The show’s atmosphere looks spot-on. And the fact that the titular character, played by Krysten Ritter, renounces her superpowers looks to inject a level of comic book deconstruction and introspection not yet seen in a Marvel property.
Jessica Jones has some demons, man, and they’re personified by David Tennant’s Kilgrave, a.k.a. the Purple Man. In the glimpses we see of him, Tennant looks supremely creepy. It’s the same type of seductive villain played by Tom Hiddleston as Loki, except with a way more anarchic slant.
Props also to Ritter for looking like she’s committing to the role of the down and out superhero who doesn’t take shit from anybody. She’s only the second female Marvel headliner after ABC’s Agent Carter, and hopefully she has staying power. Count us in.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Plagued by self-loathing, and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need … especially if they’re willing to cut her a check.”
Jessica Jones premieres on Netflix on November 20.
