All hail the tomato!

The Fortnite: Battle Royale Season X, Week 8 secret battle star may have involved Batman, but here in Week 9, things are much less exciting with the “Ready or Not” limited-time mission set of challenges. These were released Thursday alongside the “Bullseye!” premium mission set of challenges.

Just like every other week so far this season, the limited-time challenge set is only around for a seven-day period, with one new challenge unlocking each day at the usual 9 a.m. Eastern time. Once players complete three of the seven challenges, they unlock a special loading screen with a clue in it that also grants them the privilege of tracking down a special prize, usually what people call a “secret battle star.” That’ll amount to an entire tier on the Season X battle pass, so for people who tend to complete a lot of challenges anyway, it’s totally worth it.

The image shows a few creepy looking skins hiding out as a new figure emerges from a brightly lit doorway.

That weird image is of the ancient tomato king that rests atop Tomato Temple.

Above the doorway is a faint drawing that, upon closer inspection, is unmistakable the tomato head idol worshipped by the ancient peoples of this land, as seen in Tomato Temple. Way back in Season 5, one of the blue rifts transported Tomato Town’s tomato head mascot through time, so people worshipped the idol as a king or god, building a temple in his honor and crafting a crown made of dining utensils. It’s pretty much one of the most ridiculous things to happen in Fortnite history.

But Tomato Temple used to be in the northeast quadrant of the map now occupied by the huge volcano. So where can folks find the new Tomato Temple head?

Tomato Temple is now directly west of the volcano and Pressure Plant.

The secret battle star should spawn atop the tomato head sculpture at the highest point of the area, so you’ll probably want to land directly there after completing all of the challenges.

Here’s a closer look at all of the Ready or Not challenges:

  • Search Supply Drops
  • SMG Eliminations
  • Land at Polar Peak or Moisty Palms in different matches
  • Deal damage with Sniper Rifles to opponents
  • Gain health
  • Search Chests in a single match
  • Visit Dusty Depot and Pleasant Park in the same match

Like all loading screen challenges this season, this one will only be available until Ready or Not ends, at the start of the next weekly reset on Thursday. Players have until 9 a.m. Eastern on Thursday, October 3 to access “Ready or Not” challenges, the loading screen, and the Week 9 treasure.
