'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' Beta Codes: Start Time, Downloads, and More

Any kind of progress players have in the beta will not carry over into the final version of the game, but it’ll still give players plenty of experience for when the final version of the game is released in October.

What Platforms Will the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Be Available For?

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta will first be made available for the Sony PlayStation 4, and then a week later it’ll open up to the PC and Microsoft Xbox One when crossplay testing will occur across all platforms.

When Is the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Release Date?

Early access for the beta on PlayStation 4 goes live on September 12, 2019 at 1 p.m. Eastern for anyone who pre-ordered (or anyone with one of our codes!). Then, access opens up to the PS4 beta for anyone on September 14 at 1 p.m. This first beta session will close out on September 16.

The second session runs from September 19 to 23 in similar fashion across all platforms with early access until September 21 when it opens up to everyone.

All of this does mean that the beta will be inactive from September 16 to 19.

How Do You Redeem Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Codes?

Activision has a lengthy blog entry on what folks need to know about redeeming beta codes. In the case of pre-orders, details vary depending on the retailer and platform, so defer to their official information.

What Game Modes Are Available in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta?

A previous beta for the new 2v2 Gunfight game mode (featured in the above video) ran as a separate download file on consoles. It’ll also be included in all versions of this beta, along with the new Ground War big battle mode. In the final version of the game, this mode might feature 100 versus 100 player gameplay, but Activision confirmed that the beta will include the “epic large-scale Ground War mode supporting up to 64 players.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released on October 25, 2019.
