'Fortnite' Mountain Top Cactus Wedge: Fortbyte 81 Location, Map, and Video
Use our map and guide.
by Jake KleinmanFortnite: Battle Royale introduced its new Fortbyte challenge at the start of Season 9, and in Week 2 there are new Fortbytes to find. One in particular might give you a particularly tough time, but here’s what you need to know to locate Fortbyte #81 at a “Mountain Top Cactus Wedge.”
First, you’ll need the Fortnite Season 9 Battle Pass, but you probably already knew that. Next, you’ll need to be playing the game during daylight. If those conditions are met, you can head to that Mountain Top Cactus Wedge to collect Fortbyte #81.
Unsurprisingly, this location is based in the southeast corner of the map where Fortnite Island features a desert-style biome. The area is dotted with small mountain-like mesas, but you’re looking for the one just southeast of Paradis Palms.
Your best bet is to land straight on the mesa, though you could also build your way up if you land somewhere else. Here’s what it looks like as you make your descent (images via YouTuber HarryNinetyFour):
Once you land, Fortbyte #81 will be clearly visible near some cactus plants inside the skeleton of some sort of sea monster, or maybe it’s that ancient four-legged whale?
Drop down, grab that Fortbyte, and get out of there before someone else show up and kills you. Or, if you’re feeling petty, hide behind one of those cactuses and try to kill other unsuspecting players instead.
If you still need help, here’s a map of the Fortbyte #81 location in Fortnite Season 9:
A quick reminder, the Fortbyte challenge will play out across Fortnite Season 9. There are 100 of these over-sized computer chips to discover and finding them will decrypt a secret message hidden in an image. Of course, this is Fortnite, so you’ll also get skins and other prizes for your trouble.
According to an in-game countdown, Fortnite Season 9 ends July 23.
