'Fortnite' Black Widow Skin, Emote May Lead to Even More 'Endgame' Avengers

"Whatever it takes."

by Corey Plante

When Avengers: Infinity War came out, Epic Games shocked us all by adding a limited-time mode to Fortnite: Battle Royale featuring Thanos, but it came as no surprise when they introduced an even more exhaustive collaboration for Avengers: Endgame.

The first public Endgame screenings begin Thursday evening, and mere hours before, Fortnite brought Thanos back to the battle royale island with an army of Chitauri warriors to hunt for the Infinity Stones in a new LTM where the good guys get Hawkeye’s bow, Thor’s Stormbreaker axe, Captain America’s shield, or Iron Man’s gloves. But that’s not the only thing added to the game with the version 8.50 update. This game mode won’t be around for very long, but Epic Games also added a Black Widow skin to the Item Shop.

Currently, players can purchase a Black Widow Outfit that comes with back bling and a separate harvesting tool and emote that celebrates Black Widow’s coolest combat maneuver from the Marvel films. But the Black Widow set is hopefully just the beginning of a weekend-long Avengers: Endgame celebration that features a few different Marvel outfits for Fortnite.

In each listing, where the rarity is usually listed with its corresponding color, it instead says “Marvel” with a red background. It seems like Epic Games has introduced an entirely new rarity tier just for Marvel items. Why would they do that if it was just for Black Widow?

Here’s a breakdown of each item.

The Black Widow outfit has two different hairstyles.

Black Widow Outfit

Cost: 1,500 V-Bucks for outfit and back bling

The Fortnite Black Widow outfit doesn’t directly resemble any of Scarlett Johansson’s costumes from the movies, mainly because it instead puts her red logo in the center of her chest and doesn’t have sleeves. But it does include the electrified wrist projectiles we’ve seen her use plenty of times.

The hairstyles are customizable for either medium-length red or medium-length blonde, akin to Black Widow from Avengers: Age of Ultron or Avengers: Infinity War.

The Black Widow back bling includes her electrified batons.

Black Widow Back Bling — Widow’s Pack

The Black Widow back bling is included in the main outfit that costs 1,500 V-Bucks, and it features a simple black backpack with her logo and her two electrified batons.

The simple Widow's Bite looks like a big version of Black Widow's batons.

Epic Games

Black Widow Harvesting Tool — Widow’s Bite

Cost: 800 V-Bucks

A simple but elegant weapon, the Black Widow-themed harvesting tool just looks like one of her electric batons but much longer. If there’s one cosmetic item in the pack that’s skippable, maybe it’s this one?

Who wore it better?

Black Widow Emote — Widow’s Pirouette

Cost: 200 V-Bucks

A direct recreation of Black Widow’s acrobatic combat from Iron Man 2, the Widow’s Pirouette feels like a must-buy emote. It makes the avatar do a high kick followed by a kicking cartwheel, ending in the iconic Black Widow pose we all remember so well.

As of this writing, these items should leave the Item Shop when the stock rotates at 8 p.m. Eastern, ironically an hour earlier than most Avengers: Endgame screenings will end. The official Fortnite Endgame challenges will be active until May 5, so it seems likely that Epic Games has plenty more Avengers-themed outfits in the works for this ongoing event.

Who might be next?

Fortnite: Endgame challenges, LTMs, and outfits are now active in the game until May 5, and Avengers: Endgame is now in theaters.
