'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Spoilers: Leaked Photos Show Dany Somewhere New
by Jake KleinmanWe’re just two weeks away from Game of Thrones Season 8, but a fresh batch of leaked photos may contain some major spoilers for the HBO show’s final six episodes. A handful of new pictures were recently shared on Instagram by Sky Atlantic UK (which airs Game of Thrones in the United Kingdom) showing Daenerys Targaryen in an exciting new setting. The Season 8 photos were subsequently deleted, but not before they could spread like wildfire online.
Warning: Light spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 ahead.
The images in question show Dany making herself at home in Winterfell. Of course, we’ve already seen the Mother of Dragons arriving in the north thanks to early Season 8 footage released by HBO (rewatch it up top), but this is the first time we’ve gotten a glimpse of Daenerys inside the castle walls.
From the looks of it, she’s quickly made herself at home. This may not go over well with Sansa Stark, who seemed to give Dany a formal-but-frosty welcome to Winterfell in that initial footage. Based on recent interviews, we also expect that Arya Stark may not be too happy, either, to learn that Jon Snow bent the knee to a Targaryen. (Just wait ‘til she finds out who Jon’s real father is!)
Here’s a few of the images in question, courtesy of a Game of Thrones fan account on Twitter. (You can see a few more here and here.)
The first of the three images shows Dany looking at ease in her new digs, suggesting she may get along pretty well with the Stark sisters after all. The idea of these three characters becoming friends is an exciting one to think about, especially after watching them live out their separate but interconnected journeys over the past few years.
The second image shows a more serious Dany seated at a table with a fire raging behind her. It suggests she’s enforcing her power over any holdouts in Winterfell who refuse to bend the knee. We definitely don’t expect things to get violent (at least until the White Walkers show up), but we might be getting some heated debates in the meantime over who’s really in charge of Winterfell.
Finally, the third photo shows Dany with her longtime adviser Ser Jorah Mormont. They’re both looking at the same thing and appear to be concerned, but it’s unclear what it is they’re looking at. Jorah also seems a bit battle-worn, but perhaps he just hasn’t had a chance to relax since arriving in Winterfell.
Regardless, it looks like Dany’s arrival in Winterfell could spark plenty of tension (and hopefully some new friendships) before the big battle against the Night King and his Army of the Dead begins.
Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres April 14 on HBO.
