'Fortnite' Week 5 Secret Battle Star Location Map: Loading Screen Guide
Watch out for the lava.
by Corey PlanteFortnite: Battle Royale’s Season 8 Discovery challenges continue in Week 5 with yet another loading screen that occurs in close proximity to the volcano with a clue hinting at a secret battle star nearby.
Week 5 began Thursday morning, and once players do the seven new challenges — like completing a lap around the new Happy Hamlet race track — they’ll be able to claim that secret battle star.
The new loading screen features Ember, the Tier 71 outfit in the Season 8 battle pass, who is a fiery woman that looks like some kind of dark elf who wields fire, just like the Prisoner. Is this the Fire King’s wife? Or his daughter? Just another person of the same race? Can they all do fire magic?
We will never know because this is as far as Fortnite’s story goes.
Ember stands holding a bow somewhere south of the volcano. We know this because that’s the only place where the lava flows through some kind of tributary.
It’s faint, but the secret battle star clue is on the raised ledge behind Ember and to her right, just left of where her bow is in the picture.
A lot of the terrain in this area looks the same, but the lava flows south out of the volcano before curling west. The battle star location is on the southwest corner of the largest island of rock inside the river of lava.
For anyone that needs more precise guidance, the video at the top of this article from YouTuber garandhero offers a succinct and very clear demonstration. (Be sure to check out his YouTube page for even more Fortnite videos).
Similar to Snowfall in Season 7, Discovery awards any player who completes all seven weekly challenges with a secret loading screen leading to a battle star or hidden banner. Doing all of this is a lot of work, but for the most dedicated Fortnite players, it’s essential.
Unlike Snowfall, with Discovery players can complete all the challenges from any week to unlock the next loading screen and therefore the secret prize. So if you haven’t completed all seven challenges from any week yet and then do every Week 8 challenge, you’ll unlock the Week 1 loading screen.
Before, specific challenge sets corresponded to particular loading screens. The difference here hardly matters for the more hardcore players, but for anyone who waits until the end of the season to complete all their challenges and get the loading screen prizes, the whole process has become just a little bit easier.
The in-game countdown indicates that Season 8 ends on May 8, so players have until then to complete this and other challenges before Season 9 arrives.
Fortnite: Battle Royale Season 8, Week 6 should begin the morning of Thursday, April 4.
