How to honor the goriest video game of its day? With disturbingly realistic carnage, naturally.

On the 20th anniversary of the Mortal Kombat film and the success of Mortal Kombat X, YouTube filmmakers RackaRacka have made a gory-as-hell, possibly barf-inducing short recreating Mortal Kombat X’s nastiest fatalities. In live-action.

Have a bucket ready.

The most impressive thing about this? It’s done on what looks like a tiny budget but it looks great. And that’s a signature of all their stuff.

They’re just dudes in their backyard having fun, but what sets them apart from other amateur filmmakers is that they know how to frame the camera and make proper use of homemade props and make-up. They don’t have the support of a major studio and it still looks more gruesome than anything I’ve seen out of Hollywood.

Considering the kinetic action and gruesome filmmaking they’ve done for years, it’s curious why they haven’t aped Mortal Kombat fatalities sooner. Now get to watching, and good on you if you can … finish ‘em.
