'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Trailer Too Dark? Reddit Made a Brighter Version
You can actually see what's going on in this version.
by Jake KleinmanGame of Thrones finally released the first (and possibly only) Season 8 trailer this week. The only problem? The entire thing is dark as heck, making it extremely hard to make out a lot of key moments in our first major look at Game of Thrones Season 8. It’s unclear if HBO did this on purpose to avoid spoilers or if the show’s final season actually has a lighting issue, but thankfully, Reddit quickly stepped it up with a brightened version of the trailer.
The Game of Thrones Season 8 trailer “Lord of Light Edition” is exactly what it sounds like, and exactly what fans need right now. Created by redditor u/ascitien, it’s virtually unchanged except for the fact that you can actually see what’s happening and who you’re looking at.
The comments under the video go on to note various little details that weren’t visible in the original trailer, including one shot of Gilly in the crypt with Varys. We also get a much clearer look at the big nighttime battle, particularly when it comes to some impressive acrobatic fighting from Arya.
Of course, the official Game of Thrones Season 8 trailer already revealed plenty of exciting details, including what looks like Jon Snow about to ride a dragon (presumably after learning that he’s a Targaryen), Jaime Lannister fighting for the good guys after ditching Cersei, and the arrival of the mercenary army known as the Golden Company. But for super fans, this edited version should be required viewing as well.
Check out the fully brightened trailer below, and stay tuned for even more analysis as we count down to the days until Game of Thrones returns for its final six episodes.
Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres April 14 on HBO.
