'Mindhunter' Season 2 Release Date Could Bring Back a Popular Killer

After his impressive performance in Season 1, a certain killer could return.

Mindhunter fans may have recognized Hazel in Netflix’s new series The Umbrella Academy as Cameron Britton, the actor who played Edmund Kemper in the first season of the crime series, but could they also see him in the upcoming Mindhunter Season 2? It seems more than possible, given Britton’s recent comments on his possible future on the show.

Light spoilers for Mindhunter Season 2 below.

Britton was impressive in Season 1 as the serial killer Edmund Kemper. He even earned an Emmy nomination in 2018 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of serial killer Edmund Kemper. So, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think that he could return in some capacity, even just one episode, in Season 2. If he does, however, he’s not sharing.

“Netflix pulls those memories out of me,” Britton told RadioTimes.com. “I hope I’m in it and I can’t remember, it’s a blind spot.”

We assume Britton’s joking and Netflix doesn’t actually delete actor’s memories, Men in Black style. Either way, it seems likely fans will see Kemper again in Season 2. We seriously hope that his appearance in the Season 1 finale, where he gives Agent Ford (Jonathan Groff) a spine-chilling huge, isn’t the character’s last appearance.

Will Kemper be part of 'Mindhunter' Season 2?

However, if Britton does return to the show, it’s likely he won’t be the one to reveal that fact in an interview. In fact, he’d rather keep any possible return a secret, telling TV Guide in June that he liked that Season 1 previews didn’t reveal everything that happened.

In that same interview, he said he didn’t know if he’d be in Season 2. “There are so many serial killers that the guys at the FBI have to interview,” Britton said.

That much is definitely true. We know that Mindhunter Season 2 will include the Atlanta Child Murders and Charles Manson, among others.

However, if Britton was definitely not going to be in Season 2, isn’t it possible he’d say as much in interviews? Or is the hope that seeing him again will be a draw for fans to tune in?

Mindhunter Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
