'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Spoilers: Is Jaime With Daenerys in New Photos?
by Eric FranciscoAfter literally setting Bud Light on fire during the Super Bowl, HBO released the first official photos from Game of Thrones Season 8. And one image, in particular, could be telling of one character’s new allegiance in the series’ final episodes.
On Wednesday, HBO released a ton of new photos of Game of Thrones Season 8. By themselves, they’re not all that revealing. They’re mostly photographic portraits of the principal characters looking sullen and snug in heavy fur armor.
But one photo, featuring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, is quite telling for one reason. Well, two. First, he’s smiling — he hasn’t smiled like that in quite awhile. Not since after the Lannisters got burnt to a crisp.
Second, Jaime has ditched his regal gold armor in favor of something more rustic, rugged, muted … and Northern. If you know your Game of Thrones, you know that Jaime in Northern armor is a big deal and suggests that he’ll leave his lover/sister Cersei to side with Daenerys against the White Walkers. That makes sense considering the siblings had a falling out at the end of Game of Thrones Season 7, but it’s still shocking to see evidence that the Kingslayer may have officially switched sides.
Speaking of Cersei, another photo causing some kerfuffle in the fandom is of Lena Headey as Cersei in a new dress. It’s a photo that fans think shows Cersei in the very, very early stages of pregnancy.
So, does Cersei have a baby bump? Is Jaime really wearing Northern armor? You can see those photos and more below. Winter is finally here (even if it is like 60 degrees Fahrenheit here in New York this week).
Next, Bran looks mighty cozy in so much fur, and a lot older, too.
Here’s Varys, in his goth phase.
Here’s Brienne looking like all of us during last night’s State of the Union.
Sam … still looks like Sam.
Maisie Williams, who can also be heard in the new anime series gen:LOCK, is also back for the final season.
Here’s Tyrion, still serving as Hand of the Queen to Daenerys.
And finally, Sophie Turner is back from the X-Men universe as Sansa Stark.
Game of Thrones premieres April 14, 2019, on HBO.
