'Avengers: Endgame' Super Bowl Trailer: A Newly Resolute Team Assembles
Time to suit up.
by Corey PlanteThe rumors about an Avengers: Endgame trailer airing during Super Bowl LIII were true. Disney took full advantage of the opportunity to share new footage of the next Avengers movie seconds before kickoff.
The new teaser trailer played immediately after the opening coin toss for the Super Bowl.
The trailer shows a brand-new super hero team as it is about to assemble, and it’s a good thing, because every survivor is going through some serious issues. Thankfully, we don’t see any of the same footage from the first Avengers: Endgame trailer released in early December.
The teaser opens with a super-fast montage of all the dead characters before we see New York City wreathed in fog. We see an empty Citi Field, a shot not lost on self-deprecating Mets fans.
We then see Steve Rogers during a group counseling session, no doubt formed after half the universe’s population was eradicated: “Some people move on, but not us,” he says.
We also get a flash of Tony Stark and Nebula in some kind of workshop, crafting something we can’t see. Is it some kind of technology that might help them survive?
Black Widow, Captain America, Bruce Banner, and War Machine gather on the Avengers facility lawn at night. Rocket whips open a wooden door at some building by the ocean. Black Widow angrily practices in a shooting range. Thor broods somewhere.
One of the coolest scenes happens in an office probably located in the Avengers Facility, where War Machine and Ant-Man suit up by putting their helmets on, but the greatest scene happens at the very end. Echoing the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, everyone that’s left marches through the hangar at the Avengers Facility, no doubt launching some kind of epic plan to fix things.
Everything considered, this new trailer offers very little in terms of concrete information, but it’s clear that the new Avengers have some kind of plan.
Avengers: Endgame will be released in theaters on April 26, 2019.
