'Fortnite' Golden Balloons: Locations, Map, and Video Guide to Find All 10
What are these even for?
by Corey PlanteForget 99 red balloons, because the folks that make Fortnite: Battle Royale want players to focus on 10 gold balloons this week at various locations across the map. Could it have something to do with the Marshmello concert event due to happen later this week?
Season 7’s Week 9 began Thursday morning, and one of the new challenges has players “pop 10 golden balloons.” Essentially, this challenge works exactly like the one during Fortnitemares that had players destroy ghost decorations and the similar one during 14 Days of Fortnite focusing on the destruction of snowflakes. Players have to find the decorations and hit them with a weapon or even just their pickaxe. Per usual, there are more than enough spread out across the map.
In fact, they’re so spread out that this challenge will take quite some time, spanning across multiple matches for even the most skilled players, but hey, at least it’s pretty straightforward and easy?
Weirdly, there’s a huge gap on the western side of the island where there are no balloons, so for any players looking to optimize their time and hit as many locations as possible in a single match, the best way to do that is to probably land at one of the map’s four corners and then head east from the west side or south/north from the east side.
In fact, one solid strategy might be to land at Frosty Flights, take out that balloon, grab a plane and use that to fly right through balloons at various locations. Also consider that X-4 Stormwing timed trials are another challenge this week, so there’s an opportunity for some overlap.
The in-game countdown says that Fortnite Season 7 doesn’t end until February 27, 2019. So players have just under a month to complete this and other challenges before Season 8 is upon us, bringing all sorts of new map changes and challenges with it.
