'Spider-Man: Far From Home': Cobie Smulders Confirms Maria Hill's Return

by Eric Francisco

Maria Hill lives! In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote the new season of her Netflix series, Cobie Smulders confirmed her return as former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill in the next Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home.

On a January 12 interview with (a very hysterical) Jimmy Fallon, the artist formerly known as Robin Sparkles was asked if she will appear in Spider-Man: Far From Home, out July 5. Although she played coy with whether or not she’ll appear in Avengers: Endgame, out in theaters April 26, the actor confirmed “Yes” to Spider-Man.

“Yes. That’s out there,” Smulders told Fallon, confirming previous reports. “Yes. I can’t tell you what’s happening in it but yeah.”

In an amusing, wide-ranging segment that spanned topics like Smulder’s cross-country trip with her family in an RV and her Netflix series Friends From College, Fallon tried, and mostly failed, to wrangle out spoilers from Smulder over her return in the Avengers franchise.

“I love the preciousness of all of this, it’s so magical,” Smulders said. “But we don’t want to ruin anything for anyone.” When Fallon pressed even further, Smulders yelled out, “It’s coming out so soon!”

Maria Hill was last seen in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War, disintegrating into dust with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury after Thanos wiped out half the known universe with the Infinity Stones. While things look bleak for the MCU, you can’t be a comic book fan without knowing everything will likely turn out OK in the end. We’ll see our heroes again soon enough, Maria Hill included.

Avengers: Endgame will be released in theaters on April 26. Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released on July 5.
