'Star Wars Episode 9' Title Reveal: 17 Options From 'The Last Jedi' Script
by Jake KleinmanThe Star Wars: Episode IX title is still a mystery, but it may be hiding in plain sight. As one fan recently noted, The Last Jedi established a precedent of using a line from the previous film for a title — and that’s something Lucasfilm’s sister studio Marvel also did with Avengers: Endgame. So what does that mean for the upcoming Star Wars movie? Now that is an interesting question.
In a report last week, we speculated that the title could come from Luke Skywalker’s speech to Kylo Ren. Here’s the specific line of dialogue we’re talking about.
Kylo: I’m sure you are! The Resistance is dead! The war is over! And when I kill you, I will have killed the last Jedi!
Luke: Amazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong. The Rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning. And I will not be the last Jedi. (Emphasis added)
Star Wars: The Rebellion Reborn. That’s pretty good, right? We thought so. What we didn’t expect, however, is that the internet would take our initial concept and run with it, offering their own Episode IX title suggestions pulled from the script of The Last Jedi.
Some of those title suggestions are pretty good. Some are hilarious. Here are our favorites.
