'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Spoilers: Teaser Trailer Could Be Released Soon

by Meredith Jacobs

Game of Thrones fans know there are still five months until Season 8 premieres, but they can’t even start a countdown yet because we still don’t have an exact date (just sometime in April). However, you might be able to start a countdown to the release of a new teaser or trailer — or at least some news.

This weekend, a Game of Thrones panel at a Comic-Con in Brazil (CCXP) is set to feature series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with GoT actors John Bradley and Maisie Williams. So it seems possible they’ll discuss Game of Thrones Season 8 and even release a new teaser trailer like this one from Season 7.

Then again, it may be more likely that we’ll get such a teaser during the Super Bowl in February. That would be closer to the premiere date, after all. And it would give HBO a much bigger audience to promote Game of Thrones Season 8.

However, it also seems likely that HBO will use a teaser to announce the exact premiere date, and that will hopefully happen sooner than two months prior to the release.

If there is a teaser, it’s possible it could be similar to what redditor u/Kanaenystargaryen doesn’t want.

“I only hope it’s not just a teaser where they show us the sigils or the banners of the main houses,” they write. “I need a teaser with actual season 8 footage.”

HBO released a sizzle reel for its upcoming shows (below) over the summer, and it includes just a taste of what’s to come in Game of Thrones Season 8. We get a quick glimpse of Jon Snow and Sansa’s reunion, but so far that’s it. Hopefully this coming weekend will bring some new information about the show’s epic final season.

Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres in April 2019 on HBO.
