'Smash Ultimate' DLC Leaks: Alleged Employee Reveals 10 New Characters

Somehow, Waluigi STILL isn't included.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster may be finalized for now, but with new DLC characters on the horizon, plenty of info is still shrouded in mystery. Nintendo recently said it’s already finalized the first batch of extra fighters to be released as downloadable content. Now we may already know who they are thanks to one disgruntled employee.

The latest Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC leak comes from the sketchy depths of the internet (aka, 4Chan), where one anonymous user shared a post claiming to be an employee at Nintendo of Russia who’s fed up with the company’s regional boss and decided to share the next 10 characters coming to Smash for revenge.

That first part checks out. Nintendo of Russia has been going through some turbulent times, with regional president Yasha Haddaji reportedly under investigation for abusive behavior, according to a Nintendo Life exposé..

So it makes sense that Nintendo of Russia employees would be angry, but that doesn’t necessarily mean this alleged leaker is actually telling the truth. Still, it’s worth taking a look at what they had to say, though you should obviously treat it all with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Article continues after this related video.

The leaker begins by offering up their alleged credentials and claiming they accurately predicted other new Smash Bros. Ultimate characters like King K. Rool and Richter Belmont. Then they go on to reveal not just the already-promised five DLC characters coming in 2019 as part of the initial season pass, but an additional five allegedly included in “Fighter Pack 2” (which presumably refers to a second wave of fighters coming in 2020 or beyond).

Here’s the full rundown:

The characters included in Fighter Pack 1 are
-Euden from Dragalia Lost
-Bandana Waddle Dee from Kirby
-Edelgard from Fire Emblem: Three Houses
-Impa from The Legend of Zelda
-Zeraora from Pokemon
The characters included in Fighter Pack 2 are
-Geno from Super Mario RPG
-Sora from Kingdom Hearts
-Steve from Minecraft
-Crash Bandicoot
-Sans from Undertale

The first five alleged Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighters from Fighter Pack 1 seem pretty reasonable. Another Zelda character? Sure, why not? Another Pokémon? Ok, we guess. Another Fire Emblem fighter? Fine, if we really have to. It’s worth noting that none of the characters on that list are from non-Nintendo games, which seems a little suspicious … until you look at Fighter Pack 2.

Fighter Pack 2 reads like a video game fantasy, though it might not be that unbelievable. Geno and Steve are both frequently leaked characters, but Sora and Crash Bandicoot? Just one of those heroes come to Smash would be enough to break the internet, let alone both. As for Sans, that’s a nice but unlikely shoutout to the indie hit Undertale.

Finally, the alleged Nintendo leaker claims his source already played with Impa from the Zelda series, noting that the new character plays similarly to Sheik (also from Zelda) with some heavier sword attacks comparable to Ike and a Marth-style recovery.

It will be interesting to see how much of this turns out to be true (if any), but for now you’re best bet is to treat the entire thing as a sketchy rumor until proven otherwise.
