'Stranger Things' Season 3: Fans Are Going Nuts Over a Secret Morse Code
by Eric FranciscoThe next season of Netflix’s Stranger Things is still months away from its summer 2019 release date, but fans are wasting no time speculating over a newly decoded message that they believe might hint at what’s yet to come in Hawkins, Indiana.
Since the October 30 release of Stranger Things: Worlds Turned Upside Down, a new hardcover book that dives into the behind-the-scenes making of the hit series, fans on Reddit have debated the relevance of a hidden message found within the book.
In six specific pages, a line of “morse code” can be found. And when decoded, the message reveals an ominous poem that sounds like a warning.
Here’s the poem (along with each line’s respective page number):
“ The week is long” (page 22)
“The silver cat feeds” (page 62)
“When blue and yellow meet” (page 79)
“In the west” (page 80)
“A trip to China sounds nice” (page 172)
“If you tread lightly” (page 209)
Reddit has already solved one line in the poem: “When blue and yellow meet.” In the Season 3 promo advertising the opening of Hawkins’ Starcourt Mall (shot on location in the struggling Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, Georgia), a clock with blue and yellow hands can be seen several times.
Whatever the message is getting at, it’s a safe bet that whenever the “blue and yellow” hands of time meet — could be 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, 9 ‘clock, or 12 o’clock — something bad will happen. Better get some ice cream while you can.
Stranger Things Season 3 will premiere on Netflix in 2019.
Correction 11/25/18: This article states the Starcourt Mall in the Stranger Things Season 3 teaser promo is shot in the real Gwinnett Place shopping mall. It was previously stated that the Gwinnett Place Mall is located in Lawrence, Georgia. The mall is located in Duluth, Georgia.
