Catch up on this year's best games.
by Danny PaezPlaying the latest games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate unfortunately requires the latest consoles that are powerful enough to keep up.
Fortunately, retailers from Best Buy to Game Stop are slashing prices on premium systems, like the Xbox One X and Playstation VR. Some of these deals are specific to to Black Friday — which officially kicks off on November 23 — though many of these deals are already under way.
That said, you may still want to act fast if you want to get your hands on top-of-the-line gaming systems for the low: Last year the best selling tech during Black Friday and Cyber Monday was in fact a console, the Nintendo Switch, according to data from Adobe. In fact, the Switch was so popular it managed to top the charts without even being offered at a discount.
4. Best Console Deals: Xbox One X 1TB for $399
If you’re looking for an immersive experience you can’t go wrong with the Xbox One X. The console comes with upgraded internals to support 4K resolution gaming at buttery smooth frame rates. The only downside is that its original, $500 asking price can be daunting but it’s $100 off on Amazon.
It also packs 1TB of storage space, that’s enough to fit 10 copies of Red Dead Redemption 2. So you can pretty much forget about having to clear out your library when you pick up a new game in the future.

The Nintendo Switch touts some of this year’s most impressive exclusive titles, like The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. Plus the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is sure to set the Switch up for another blockbuster year.
To get you in the door, Best Buy is throwing in a $60 copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with Switch purchases at no additional cost. This way you’ll be able to race your friends through Bowser’s Castle after you need a break from playing through all of its stunning single-player games. It’s not technically a markdown, but it may be the best option for people locked into getting a Switch who are looking to squeeze the most value out of their purchase.
2. Best Console Deals: PlayStation VR Creed: Rise to Glory and SUPERHOT Bundle for $250
Virtual reality is steadily maturing into more affordable and compact products, and the PlayStation VR is a prime example. The system turns users’ PS4s into VR system and Game Stop is selling it for $150 off.
The retailer will also include the boxing simulator Creed: Rise to Glory and trippy action game, SUPERHOT VR. This is the perfect way to get in on the VR hype on a budget, assuming that is that you already have a PS4.
1. Best Console Deals: Xbox One S 1TB Minecraft Creator Bundle for $199
This is the absolute cheapest premium console on sale this year. The Xbox One S normally goes for $299 but Microsoft is offering them for $100 off and it’s even throwing in a free copy of Minecraft.
The One S doesn’t support 4K-resolution games and comes with less graphical power than the One X, but at just under $200 it’s a hard deal to beat, particularly if you’re looking for a console for someone on the younger side who’s relatively new to gaming and is less likely to be a specs snob.
