Cyber Monday Laptop Deals: 5 Best Places to Look for a New Holiday Laptop

Retailers are slashing prices across the board.

by Danny Paez

Whether you’re a computer programmer, a small business owner, or blogger, your laptop is how you keep the lights on. But replacing your old MacBook Pro can also be a tough sell during the season of holiday gift-giving, though during Black Friday and Cyber Monday retailers will mercifully be slashing prices on portable computers across the board.

If you’re looking for a beastly MacBook Air for the low, Best Buy has got you, while Walmart will be putting the more minimalistic Chromebook on sale for under $100, a tenth of the price of the iPhone XS.

The deals run the gamut from powerful gaming laptops that can handily edit photos and video, to smaller devices that are better for light web browsing or quickly taking notes. If you’re in dire need of an upgrade, November 23 and November 26 will be your best bet for snagging one without busting your wallet.

Apple recently refreshed its line of ultra-sleek laptops, all of which come with four-figure price tags. But if you head to Best Buy after Thanksgiving, you should be able to pick up last year’s model for $200 off.

The 13.3-inch MacBook Air comes with an Intel Core i5 processor, for potentially demanding design assignments, and 128GB of storage capacity. All of this is packed into a compact chassis that weighs 2.96 pounds, making it a solid all-around replacement for your work laptop.

4. New Egg: MSI 15.5-inch 8th Gen Laptop for $699

Don't have the dough for a fancy gaming rig? MSI has got you.

New Egg

Setting up a gaming PC typically takes a pretty serious toll on your bank account, on Cyber Monday New Egg will ship you an MSI laptop for $200 off its original asking price. A review on the site named it a “good entry level gamer” device, so if you have a bunch of PC games sitting around pick one of these up to start playing.

It packs an Intel i5 Core processor, 128GB of storage space, and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card. which should be more than enough specs-wise to easily handle a game like Fortnite.

3. Office Depot: HP 15-inch TouchScreen Laptop for $449.99

This thing's price-to-spec ratio is incredible.

HP

This computer has a better processor than the previous two and it’s going to go on sale for under $500. This computer doesn’t have the graphics prowess of the MSI, but it’ll hold you down for any office task you throw its way.

It comes with an Intel Core i7 processor, 1TB of storage space, and has a touchscreen. If you’re finding that your old work computer can’t keep up with you on excel, this laptop is definitely a steal.

2. Dell: Inspiron 11.6-inch Laptop for $119.99

The Dell Inspiron is the company’s play to lure business travelers, and offers a handful of features that will appeal to users that are on the go. It most notably touts all-day battery life for a very reasonable $120, at least that will be the markdown price on Dell’s site come Black Friday.

This device comes with 32GB of onboard storage, making it better for people who work off of cloud services, like Google Docs. Laptop Mag praised its “fantastic battery life” so you can guarantee it won’t let you down when you’re on deadline.

1. WalMart: Samsung 11.6-inch Chromebook for $99

$100 laptops are not a myth.

Samsung

$100 won’t get you much of today’s tech, so it’s kind of a surprise that it’s enough to get you a solid laptop. This absolute unit of a budget laptop is perfectly suited for students that are strapped for cash but would prefer not being forced to live in the library during every exam season.

The drawback is that it only packs 16GB of internal storage, making a cloud services provider a must. But on the other hand, customers have praised the product for its impressive speeds and long-lasting battery life. That’s pretty impressive for something that costs one-twentieth the price of a new MacBook Pros.
