'Red Dead Redemption 2' Gold Bar Locations: Treasure Maps and More
Get that gold.
by Jake KleinmanThere’s a lot of ways to accrue cash in Red Dead Redemption 2, but if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck then it’s all about gold bars. These can be found throughout the game by solving puzzles, progressing through the story, or just stumbling upon them. Here’s a quick rundown of all the currently known gold bar location in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Before we get started, a quick note that once you do get your hands on a gold bar or two you’ll need to find a Fence to sell it. Also, there’s currently a glitch that makes it possible to get infinite gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2, so make sure to take advantage of that while you still can.
Ok, with that out of the way, here’s a list of locations and methods for getting gold bars in RDR2.
Treasure Hunts
There are a bunch of Treasure Hunts in Red Dead Redemption 2 that will result in getting some gold bars upon completion. As VG247 notes, the Poisonous Trailer Treasure Hunt gets your four gold bars while the Le Tresor Des Morts treasure map (a pre-order exclusive) comes with the best reward.
IGN also has detailed video guides for a bunch of Jack Hall and High Stakes Treasure Hunts. So check those out here:
Other Gold Bar Locations
Beyond the obvious treasure hunts, there are a few other ways to get that gold. You can solve the Strange Statues puzzle for a nice payout. You can also head to Limpany, an abandoned town and follow these directions to find a single gold bar. Or track down some gold at a derailed train in Cotorra Springs using this video guide:
Finally, just playing the game will net you some gold. After you finish Chapter 2 you’ll get a nice payout, and once you’re done with Chapter 4 you can head to Braithwaite Manor just South of Rhodes. Head to the “main building” and follow these directions from IGN to find one gold bar:
Enter the charred building and enter the room just past the corpse. Face the west wall that puts you back in view of the corpse (as shown below) and you’ll find a lockbox with the gold bar.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for Xbox One and PS4.
