'Red Dead Redemption 2' Release Time, Preload Details, and More
Everything you need to know.
by Jake KleinmanRed Dead Redemption 2 is just a week away from release, and if you digitally pre-ordered the game you’re probably itching to saddle up and ride into the wild west. Here’s what you need to know so you can start playing Rockstar’s new game just as soon as it’s released.
Red Dead Redemption 2 preload details
Preloads for Red Dead Redemption 2 started on Friday, October 19 at 12 a.m. Eastern. So if you pre-ordered the game digitally you can start downloading now.
That gives you a full week to get the bulk of the game installed, which might sound excessive. Then again, considering that Red Dead Redemption 2 takes up a mind-boggling 99 GB of space on your PS4 and 107 GB on Xbox One (it even comes as two separate discs in its physical format), you may actually need all that time to get set up.
So don’t put off the preload and assume you have plenty of time. Get started ASAP.
Red Dead Redemption 2 release time
As expected, Rockstar revealed this week that Red Dead Redemption 2 will go live at 12 a.m. Eastern on Friday, October 26. That means anyone on Pacific time can start playing as early as 9 p.m. tonight (assuming they finish preloading this gargantuan game in time). Unfortunately, it also means anyone in Europe will either have to stay up until the early hours of the morning or just wait until Friday proper to start playing.
Red Dead Redemption 2 launches October 26.
