How to Get a Shiny Moltres in 'Pokémon GO' This Saturday
It'll take a mix of luck, strategy, and perseverance.
Pokémon GO’s Moltres Day is almost upon us. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of the legendary bird event, including how to create the best possible Pokémon team to catch one and how to improve your chances of nabbing a Shiny Moltres.
Pokémon GO Moltres Day Start Time
Just like with most Pokémon GO community day events, this one lasts for three hours, starting at 2 p.m. Eastern and ending at 5 p.m. Eastern. It all happens on Saturday, September 8. So make sure to clear your schedule for tomorrow if you haven’t already.
During the event, you’ll be able to pick up five free Raid Passes by spinning at a gym. All the Raid Bosses you encounter will also be Moltres, making it easy to catch the legendary bird if you haven’t already.
Pokémon GO Moltres Day Strategy
Before Moltres Day even begins, you’ll want to get your Pokémon squad locked and loaded for the big event. Specifically, pick your toughest Pokémon that can counter Moltres (meaning water and rock types are best). You should also opt for Pokémon with powerful charge attacks since you’ll be dealing with a Raid Boss which means a ton of CP to get through.
If you’re looking for inspiration, USGamer has some suggestions for good Pokémon to counter Moltres. The list includes Golem, Omnistar, Tyranitar, and Vaporeon.
Pokémon GO Shiny Moltres
The chances of anyone Moltres being an ultra-rare shiny variant are one in 20, according to Pokémon GO Hub. So those five raid passes aren’t a guarantee that you’ll see a shiny Moltres on Saturday. If you want to improve your chances, you’ll need to buy additional Raid Passes from the in-game store, but even then it still comes down to luck.
