'Fortnite' Season 6 Stone Tomato Theory Might Hint at the Coming Apocalypse
It's all coming to an end.
by Oscar GonzalezSunday’s return of the Tomato Head mascot was not the momentous occasion Fortnite: Battle Royale players expected. Still, as the case with any change within the game, players have theories of what its return means and why it’s facing at a certain direction.
The expectation on Sunday when a Rift appeared on top of Uncle Pete’s Pizza Pit was the return of the giant Tomato Head that once sat there. What appeared in its stead was a discolored smaller version, which is assumed to be made of stone. While some pondered about the shrunken head, one Reddit user focused on where the head was facing. What they found on Monday was the small Tomato Head was looking towards Wailing Woods, but more specifically, the mysterious hatch first seen in Season 4.
In May, a hatch appeared in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It doesn’t open, but players used glitches to not only see what’s inside, but also make their way into it. What they found was a small, underground area, which makes it unique as all other structures on the island have a purpose unlike the hatch. There was an also interesting Half-Life 2 Easter egg, but to this day, it’s still a mystery.
This leads some players to believe that this hatch was the first instance of the Fortnite: Battle Royale world combining with the Save the World mode where the hatches are normally found. Since Season 5’s theme is “World Collide”, there is an expectation the two modes will “collide” with each other to end the season. Another theory is this hints to some apocalyptic event within the game that will bring some big changes and the start of Season 6. This could be a reason why one of the skins released this season in Save the World is called Ragnarok.
The next storyline event for Fortnite: Battle Royale will come Friday, which should see the Rift in the sky shrink. Then next week on August 28, another “Tomato Event” will take place, according to data miners.
Next week will also be a big event Fortnite: Battle Royale event, but this time it’s for money. The final Summer Skirmish Series tournament will happen on August 31 at PAX West in Seattle, and anyone going to the event can participate.
