Nintendo just revealed a ton of new info about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but the company’s next announcement could focus on another game entirely. A new leak suggests there might be a Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct in the near future, and it might just reveal new details about that long-promised “core RPG Pokémon title on Nintendo Switch.”

The news comes courtesy of Amazon UK, which may have accidentally leaked several upcoming Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch. Two of them appear to be ports from the Nintendo 3DS (Pokémon Sun and Moon maybe?), while the third is simply labeled “Switch Title 14.” However, the mere fact that it’s sandwiched between two Pokémon titles is enough to spark some extra speculation.

The listing was spotted by Twitter tipster @CrocOclock, who shared a screenshot and points to some interesting text stating, “Just announced at the Nintendo Switch event.”

Assuming this is true (it could be a mistake by Amazon or a fake leak entirely), we may be due for a Pokémon Nintendo Direct very soon. And if that’s the case it seems safe to assume that we’ll learning something about that core RPG Pokémon game for Switch.

After all, it’s been over a year since Nintendo revealed plans for the title at E3 2017, saying at the time that, “It may not release for more than a year, but we hope you’ll look forward to it all the same.” Well, it’s been more than a year. If the game is launching in 2018, you can expect to learn more before too long, and a Pokémon-themed Nintendo Direct is the perfect place to officially reveal the new game.

Then again, it’s possible that Nintendo could choose to focus on the upcoming Pokémon: Let’s Go games instead, which launch this fall. If that’s the case, we might not get an official core RPG Pokémon game for Switch until 2019 at the earliest.

For now, this is just speculation though. We’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Nintendo to find out what the company has planned for Pokémon and the Switch in 2018.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will be released for Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018.
