Everything You Need to Know to Catch Registeel in 'Pokémon GO'
The Steel-type legendary golem is your latest raid boss challenge.
It’s not Zapdos Day yet, but there’s still a legendary Pokémon out there waiting for you in Pokémon GO. Registeel is currently available as a raid boss. Here’s what you need to know to catch the legendary Gen 3 golem, including Registeel’s weaknesses, moveset, and how long it will stick around in Pokémon GO.
Registeel landed in Pokémon GO earlier this week and it will stick around until August 16, leaving you with plenty of time to build up your arsenal and put together a squad of players to take down this raid boss. Of course, it’s worth noting that Registeel isn’t exactly a great addition to your lineup thanks to its mediocre moveset and slow speed, but if you’re a Pokédex completionist you’ll still want to catch one while you can.
The Gen 3 tier 5 Pokémon boasts 30,596 CP, according to GameRant and its moveset includes Metal Claw, Rock Smash, Flash Cannon, Focus Blast, Hyper Beam (all either Steel, Fighting, or Normal type moves). So you’ll want to assemble a team of six players to take one down. However, you can probably do the job with as few as three Pokémon trainers, though you’ll be setting yourself up for a real challenge.
Like the name implies, Registeel is a Steel-type Pokémon. That means you’ll want to counter it with Fire, Fighting, or Ground-type Pokémon. The best options are probably Moltres, Charizard, Machamp, Flareon, and Hariyama, but any powerful Pokémon that counters Steel-types will do. You’ll also want to take on Registeel when it’s either sunny or cloudy out to boost your own Pokémon (sunny for Fire-type, cloudy for Fighting types). Just make sure it’s not snowing or Registeel will get a boost instead.
