It's a real PokéFest.
by Oscar GonzalezPokémon GO trainers will travel to Lincoln Park in Chicago for the Pokémon GO Fest 2018 Saturday. An email sent by the festival coordinators offered some helpful tips for the trainers who will spend the day in the park catching Pokémon.
The Pokémon GO Fest Team sent an email Friday to those attending the event in Chicago. One Reddit user posted the email on The Silph Road subreddit, and in the email are tips and info for trainers who will spend two days in Lincoln Park with hundreds, if not thousands, of Pokémon GO players.
No Lines
The first tip in the list is that there will be no lines to get into the park. There is a North and South entrance where players can check-in by scanning the QR code they received with the purchase of a ticket at a PokéStop near the entrances. However, there may be lines elsewhere. Festival coordinators advised attendees there will be a security check, which will likely have a link. Also, those who need to pick-up ticket at the Will Call booth will probably have to wait in line, too.
Pokémon to Catch
There will be 50 different kinds of Pokémon to catch within the park. Some will be in certain sections so exploring the festival area is key for those who want to catch them all. There will also be a few special Pokémon spawn during the festival weekend including Shiny Plusle, Shiny Minun, Alolan Diglett, and Alolan Geodude.
Everyone Loves a Contest
Contests will be held every 30 minutes in the respective team tents and the different habitats located in the park. The prizes are exclusive to Pokémon GO Fest 2018.
Get Out and Explore Chicago
The email also made it a point to advised Pokémon GO trainers to go beyond Lincoln Park and take in the sights of Chicago. Not only does it make for a great picture, but there will be Raid Battles in downtown Chicago.
It appears that Pokémon GO developer Niantic learned from the mistakes of last year’s festival by offering more activities for attendees. Whether these changes will be all for naught will not be known until Pokémon GO Fest 2018 comes to an end.
While the festival happens in Chicago, players across the world can participate in the Professor Willow’s Global Challenge happening over the weekend. If player’s complete all the goals set, they will unlock Zapdos Day on July 21.
