Here's Why You Should Pay for a Battle Pass in 'Fortnite' Season 5
It's worth the price.
Now that Fortnite Season 5 is finally official and we know what’s included in the new Battle Pass the question remains: Is it worth paying for? If you’re on the fence about dropping $10 on a free-to-play game I’m here to argue that it’s absolutely worth the price. Not only is the Season 5 Battle Pass a great deal, but it also makes playing Fortnite more fun.
How much is the Battle Pass in Fortnite Season 5?
Just like last time, the Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks (Fortnite’s in-game currency). That comes to $10 in actual currency, which will leave you with 50 V-Bucks left over. If you had a Season 4 Battle Pass and you really hustled, it’s possible you earned enough V-Bucks to cover Season 5. If not, you’ll have to head into the in-game store and spend some of your hard-earned cash instead.
Either way, though, the Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass is still worth it.
Why you should buy a Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass
Paying for a Battle Pass means you’ll have access to weekly challenges in Fortnite. In Season 4 that ranged from hunting down rubber duckies across the map to performing a coordinated dance with three other players to solving weekly treasure maps. In the first week of Season 5, we’ve already gotten a new treasure map and a challenge that involves floating into lightning bolts suspended in the air.
In short, these Battle Pass challenges are a lot of fun. They add an extra dimension to a game that can otherwise get really repetitive really fast (land, loot, die, repeat). They’ll also send you to corners of the Fortnite island you probably wouldn’t have explored otherwise.
Beyond the fun, paying for a Battle Pass also makes it a lot easier to unlock special skins, emotes, and other cosmetic extras — in Season 5, the ultimate special item is a badass viking skin named Ragnarok. Of course, these won’t make you any better at the game, but they will boost your cred and help you intimidate the occasional noob — and isn’t that what it’s really all about?
