'Pokémon GO' Fest 2018: Start Time, Location, Rewards, and More
Get ready.
by Jonathan LeeThe Pokémon GO 2018 Summer Tour marches on with its second official event, and this time, it’s headed to the Windy City.
Pokémon GO Fest 2018 will take place in Lincoln Park, the historic park in Chicago’s North Side situated by Lake Michigan. From July 14 to 15, players will explore a 1.8-mile special course with Pokémon habitats that Niantic has organized for the events. Unfortunately, tickets to the Chicago event are sold out, but you don’t have to be in Chicago to participate.
Plusle and Minum, the featured Pokémon for the event, will be spawning all over the world. As with previous events, this is also your chance at grabbing the Shiny variants of the featured Pokémon. Players will receive bonus Stardust for capturing these Pokémon during the event. Along with Shiny Plusle and Shiny Minum, Alolan Diglett and Alolan Geodude will also make an appearance at Pokémon GO Fest 2018. And if the rumors are true, you also may be able to snag the mythical Celebi.
There are also additional bonuses for research. Players who complete 100,000 research tasks during the event will be rewarded with increased catch candy, which will unlock July 16 through 23.
The previous Pokémon GO event on July 8 featured Squirtle, but Niantic added extra incentive by allowing players to build their very own Squirtle Squad. During this event, Squirtle spawned in higher numbers all over the world, but some of them appeared wearing the trademark sunglasses of the Squirtle Squad.
Chicago’s Fest is the second official event in the Pokémon GO 2018 Summer Tour. The next and final event will be the Safari Zone in Yokosuka, Japan, though there are no announcements yet on when Safari Zone Yokosuka will take place or which Pokémon it will feature.
If you’re attending the Chicago event, make sure to bring sunscreen and hit up the Wiener Circle for eats — yeah, that Wiener Circle.
