'Fortnite' Stars and Stripes: Celebrate July 4th With New Skins and Emote
Happy Birthday, America.
Wednesday, July 4, is the most “American” of American holidays. To celebrate the “land of the free”, Epic Games released a new emote and set of skins — and just in time for Fortnite players to show their patriotism.
Epic tweeted Tuesday new cosmetics for players to purchase in Fortnite called the Stars and Stripes Outfits. This includes the new skin Fireworks Team Leader, which costs 1,500 V-Bucks or $15. There are two costumes, Star-Spangled Trooper and Star-Spangled Ranger, also out in the Item Shop and both costs 800 V-Bucks each or $8. Also released on Tuesday is the new Sparkler emote for 200 V-Bucks or $2.
Fortnite players are fortunate enough that Epic timed two major events for the holiday so players can spend even more time in the game. The first is the release of Playground Limited Time Mode, which went live on Monday. Players can now have their own island without worrying about other players ruining their fun. In less than 24 hours, the Fortnite community really showed off its creative side by building some massive structures. These new outfits are perfect for this mode.
The second way players can spend July 4 is inspecting the aftermath of Saturday’s rocket launch. Since the event, a large crack showed up in the sky and portals appeared across the island. Not only are these portals showing up, they’re causing things to disappear. The current theory is that these portals are rips in time leading to Season 5 where time travel will be the focus.
As the case with skins and other cosmetics in the Fortnite Item Shop, these are only available for a day. Although some outfits do return to the store, a few do not.
After July 4, Fortnite: Battle Royale Week 10 Challenges will go live, which means time is running out to complete all of the Season 4 Challenges.
