We already saw a Predator tear up a small town on Halloween night in the first trailer for Shane Black’s upcoming action-horror movie The Predator. The new trailer, though, ups the stakes when an even bigger, scarier “Ultimate” Predator enters the fray.
There’s also a pretty bad joke about video game ratings where somebody’s mom is called “E for Everyone.” It’s not the most offensive joke, but it’s jarring and a big ol’ bummer to hear coming from Keegan Michael-Key.
On Tuesday, 20th Century Fox released the second trailer for The Predator, the fourth film in the Predator franchise. The movie follows a squad of lethal killers hired by the government to stop the Predators, who have been accidentally brought to Earth by a child. Effectively a much better version of Alien vs. Predators: Requiem, the film takes place in a suburban small town during Halloween.
While the first trailer from a few months ago only teased one Predator, the new trailer shows a second — and they’re fighting each other. Or, they’re being controlled by the boy who beckoned the Predators, Rory (played by Jacob Tremblay), who might have a deep connection with the species.
Watch the trailer closely. It looks as if the “Ultimate Predator” is protecting him.
The film stars Boyd Holbrook (Logan), a former Army Ranger who leads a squad of killers, played by Keegan Michael-Key (Key & Peele), Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Alife Allen (Game of Thrones), and Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight). The film also stars Olivia Munn, Yvonne Strahovski (Mass Effect 2), Edward James Olmos, and Sterling K. Brown (Black Panther) in supporting roles.
The Predator will be unleashed in theaters on September 14.
