Marvel Updates the 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' Script Updates
Time to start Phase Four.
Marvel has nine movies scheduled after Avengers 4 comes out in 2019, and with a new update from the head of Marvel Studios and the director of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, there is now a likely release date for the third adventure featuring Chris Pratt and Co.
Collider reported Monday Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed there is a draft for Guardians 3 and filming will start early 2019. Director James Gunn also gave a confirmation with a tweet Monday showing the title page of the script for the new movie, which he wrote himself. Considering the previously released info about the nine new Marvel movies and the details revealed today, there is one date that appears to be best suited for the premiere of Guardians 3.
Back in March, a listing of dates for nine movies came out ranging from May 2020 to July 2022. Considering the time it takes to make a film like Guardians 3, which is heavy on the special effects in comparison to other Marvel movies. Then figure in that’s it unlikely Marvel would sit on a movie like the third Guardians movie since they’re now going into Phase Four meaning a new crop of movies will go into production and this movie would be the way to get the new series of movies started. Considering those points, the most likely date for Guardian of the Galaxy vol. 3 is May 1, 2020.
The big question many Guardians fans want to know is how Guardians 3 will fit in the MCU timeline considering what might happen in Avengers 4. Gunn did confirm last week the new movie will take place after Infinity War, unlike Ant-Man and The Wasp and Captain Marvel films that are set to take place before although the latter actually goes all the way back to the 90s.
Expect to see more bits of info about the next Marvel movies, such as *Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, in the coming weeks as Comic-Con International in San Diego is less than a month away.
Another question Marvel fans have is what will happen to some of their favorite heroes, especially considering how many didn’t make it after Infinity War. The film directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, suggested that some characters may not come back at all.
