'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Fan Poster Suggests Impossible Venom Crossover
Since Spider-Man: Homecoming actor Tom Holland “accidentally” revealed the title for the next standalone Spider-Man movie over the weekend, fans have been rapidly speculating what the title “Far From Home” could mean for your friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man. But one fan artist just took things to the next level by introducing the Venom symbiote into the mix.
Kode Abdo — better known as artist Bosslogic — shared a poster of his own design on Monday via Twitter for the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home. The poster depicts Spider-Man standing on the surface of some planet or spaceship with Earth looming in the distance. But as an awesome added twist, Peter Parker and his Iron Spider armor are being actively consumed by what’s unmistakable the black Venom Symbiote.
This version of Spider-Man’s Symbiote Costume does look comics accurate, which you can tell by the white panel on top of Spider-Man’s right hand. Considering how iconic this Spider-Man story arc is for most iterations of the character, this could make for a natural next step for this character as he enters a new era for Marvel movies
Here’s Bosslogic’s totally awesome but 100 percent unofficial poster:
As it stands right now, Peter Parker is currently dead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, turned to dust after Thanos snapped his fingers with the Infinity Gauntlet and wiped out half the universe in Infinity War. That film’s sequel does seem poised to undo the infamous Snap in some fashion, but it’s unclear right now what Peter Parker’s world could look like after.
But because the Symbiote species is alien in origin and Parker will probably be stranded out in space when he is inevitably revived, then it stands to reason that he could get infected while literally “far from home.”
Then the movie Far From Home could essentially become the Venom prequel, right? In a fan’s dream, maybe, but never for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man exists in the MCU and also Sony’s own Spiderverse, but so far it seems like Venom is totally it’s own thing. Venom’s origins seem totally distinct from Spider-Man.
Rumors more official than a cool fan poster do indicate that Spider-Man will get a more “manly” suit upgrade in the Homecoming sequel, but it’s highly unlikely that the change will involve any kind of alien Symbiote.
According to details announced by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige in April, Far From Home will be a globetrotting adventure that features several major cities around the world, which is the far more reasonable explanation for the title.
And in May, it was announced that actor Jake Gyllenhaal was in negotiations to play the villain Mysterio in the Homecoming sequel.
So as awesome as introducing the Symbiotes to the MCU might look in this poster, don’t count on it anytime soon.
Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 5, 2019.
