'Fortnite' Nintendo Switch Release Date Revealed

The rumors were true.

by Corey Plante

After countless leaks and rumors, Nintendo finally confirmed that Fortnite is coming to the Switch. During its E3 2018 presentation, the Japanese company made the “surprise” announcement, bringing the insanely popular Battle Royale game to yet another platform.

The Nintendo E3 2018 presentation kicked off at 12 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, and along with the announcement of Super Mario Party and updates on Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, we finally got the long-rumored confirmation that Fortnite: Battle Royale was indeed coming to the Nintendo Switch that same day.

So when exactly will players be able to get on this new version of Fortnite: Battle Royale?

You can officially hop onto the Battle Bus via your Nintendo Switch at 1 p.m. Eastern.

To do so, simply go to the Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo Switch, and you’ll be able to find it as a free download on the mobile system.

Epic Games

Much like all other versions of Fortnite: Battle Royale, the Nintendo Switch version is free to download and play, but you’ll have the option of spending extra money on in-game cosmetic items and even the Premium Battle Pass.

With the Switch being such a mobile platform, this newest version of Fortnite might be the single most versatile way you can play the Battle Royale experience. And because Epic Games saves your Fortnite account for cross-platform play, anyone with an existing account will be able to import their progress right into the Nintendo Switch version to pick up where they left off.

Again, you can download and play the Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite: Battle Royale starting on Tuesday, June 12 at 1 p.m. Eastern.
