‘Deadpool 2’: Peter W. Has a Killer Twitter, Much Like Rob Delaney

One of the most popular characters to debut in the final trailer for Deadpool 2 was Peter, a very average, heterosexual Caucasian middle-aged man. Peter loves baseball, beekeeping, and reruns of Friends. He is probably exactly like your dad. And he has a verified Twitter account that you need to follow.

On Thursday, Fox released the final trailer for Deadpool 2, which ends with the introduction of the most fascinating Marvel superhero of all time: Peter, played by comedian Rob Delaney. Unlike Terry Crews’s beefy Bedlam, or Lewis Tan’s sword-wielding Shatterstar, Peter is an ordinary guy who answered Deadpool’s call for the X-Force on a whim. Impressed by Peter, for some reason, Deadpool hires Peter, who skydives with the rest of the X-Force.

But until Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18, Peter’s Twitter — @PeterW_1974 — is the go-to source for hilarity. And like Peter, it’s the utter average-ness that makes the tweets pure gold. First day for baseball season? Peter’s excited! #MondayMotivation? Yup, he tweets ‘em. His packed lunches from his wife Susan? Oh yeah, he’s #blessed. Oblivious to the fact Susan is cheating on him with her personal trainer? Yes. That Peter is a beekeeping enthusiast, which he tweets about a lot, is perhaps the only outstanding thing about him.

Also fascinating is that the 20th Century Fox marketing team has actually been at this for awhile, long before Deadpool fans even knew who Peter was. Peter’s first tweet is dated March 24, just two days after the second trailer came online. “Wife’s always telling me to ‘get out of my comfort zone!’ So, I figure making a twitter and doing this #BeDeadpools2nd thing is a great way,” he tweeted. And that was how the best Marvel character snuck his way online.

Aside from the tweets about smiling a thousand times when life gets you down, Peter is a decidedly anti-drug user. Marijuana? No way! Of course, this will be a problem when he hangs out with noted cocaine enthusiast Deadpool.

But the only drug Peter needs is his wife, Susan. He’s really thankful to have Susan in his life. Happy wife, happy life, right?

Too bad Susan is (probably) cheating on him.

But at least Peter’s got baseball, with hard-hitting #analysis.

And yeah, Peter tweeted about his X-Force training. It’s a miracle he’s still alive.

God speed, Peter.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18.
