The kids from Hawkins, Indiana, will have a new movie obsession in Season 3 of Stranger Things because they’ll move on from Ghostbusters after a new sci-fi film releases in the summer of 1985. Earlier this week, Hollywood Reporter noted that before and during a PaleyFest panel in Los Angeles, the show’s cast and creatives revealed lots of new details about Season 3, including what the kids’ new obsession would be.

Everyone remembers the role Ghostbusters played in Season 2. The film came out in June 1984, and a few short months later, the boys dressed up as the four Ghostbusters for Halloween. Season 3 will follow a similar trend, taking place the following year during the summer of 1985. A movie called Back to the Future came out on July 3, 1985 so maybe we’ll see the kids go see it in the theater tons of times? At the very least, we’ll probably hear Dustin say the words “flux capacitor” in at least half the episode in Stranger Things 3.

Will's 'Stranger Things' Season 1 fashion choices were very Marty McFly — very ahead of its time.

On the red carpet for PaleyFest, the show’s executive producer Shawn Levy offered tons of other details as well: “Mike and Eleven and are going strong, so that’s a relationship that continues, and same with Mad Max and Lucas,” Levy explained of the show’s relationships, adding, “But again, they’re like 13- or 14-year-old kids, so what does romance mean at that stage of life? It can never be simple and stable relationships and there’s fun to that instability.”

Another welcome addition in the upcoming season will be even more “Dad Steve”. “We’ll definitely get to see some more of Steve Harrington in Season 3,” Paley said, “and I’ll just say we won’t be abandoning the Dad Steve magic.”

Work hasn’t even begun on Season 3 just yet, and there’s no specific release date in sight. But now that details are starting to emerge, it’s a good sign that production might begin soon. Considering Netflix timed Season 2’s release with Halloween, it’s entirely possible they might try to release Stranger Things during the summer. In this case, it’d probably be summer 2019.

But no matter when Stranger Things 3 does drop on Netflix, you can expect everyone to be wearing red puffer vests in honor of Back to the Future.
