The war between Rick and Negan rages on in The Walking Dead, and it’s almost time for the final showdown. The Season 8 finale of The Walking Dead cometh, and in no time, hardcore zombie enthusiasts will see worlds collide when the show crosses over with the prequel/spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead through one major character.
For the even more hardcore, AMC will bring the Season 8 finale and Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 premiere together on the big screen.
On Sunday, April 15, AMC will air the Season 8 finale of The Walking Dead at 9 p.m. EDT, followed immediately by the Season 4 premiere of Fear the Walking Dead. However, if you’re in one of the 700+ theaters participating in Fathom Events’ “Survival Sunday” double-feature, you’ll be seeing both episodes in movie theaters with fellow Walking Dead fans.
Shouldering much of the energy to this shebang is that for the very first time, The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead will collide in a crossover. Actor Lennie James, who plays Morgan in The Walking Dead, will depart the series — prepare to cry if he dies — to reprise his role in Fear the Walking Dead in a previously unexplored chapter prior to his reunion with Rick (Andrew Lincoln).
Functioning as both a prequel and a spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead follows an entirely separate cast of characters right as the apocalypse begins and continues to take place at some time prior to the events of the former show. And this season, Morgan will join forces with Fear leader Madison (Kim Dickens).
The Walking Dead Season 8 finale, and Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 premiere, airs Sunday, April 15 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC and in select theaters.
