Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash Among 20 Cryptocurrencies Added to Abra
Invest in cryptocurrencies with one click.
by Kevin Litman-NavarroCryptocurrency wallet app Abra now supports 20 different cryptocurrencies including Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Dogecoin, the startup announced in a press release Thursday.
Abra is an app aimed at making cryptocurrency purchase and exchange an easy process for anyone with a bank account. The app is a sort of one-stop shop for all things crypto: You can connect a bank account, American Express card, or an existing Bitcoin wallet to add value to the Abra wallet and start exchanging 20 different cryptocurrencies and 50 different fiat currencies.
“Users can exchange across any currency with no transaction fees, at any time with no limitations,” the press release says. It’s true: while American Express charges a small fee for Abra exchanges, you can connect a bank account or Bitcoin wallet for free. In conjunction with the app’s intuitive user interface, Abra is positioned to capture the interest of people who want to invest in cryptocurrencies, but shied away because of perceived technical difficulties.
“With the exponential growth of cryptocurrencies and their increasing importance in today’s culture, the Abra app offers a timely mobile experience that provides more access and exposure to these new digital currencies in an easy, quick and safe way,” Abra founder Bill Barhydt said in the press release. “Our goal is to empower customers around the world using their local currencies to freely invest in a wide variety of cryptocurrencies at any time, from anywhere.”
“For the first time in the world, users can transact in and out of fiat or cryptos almost instantly,” Barhydt said.
So far, it seems to be working. Abra currently has a 4.2 rating on the App Store with 759 ratings. While part of its appeal is certainly its ease of use, the fact that it offers access to the most diverse range of cryptocurrencies of any digital wallet is also a huge selling point.
