Oh Shit, Marvel Is Releasing 'Avengers: Infinity War' a Week Early

by Corey Plante

Thanos is officially coming to Earth a whole week sooner than his previously scheduled invasion.

Marvel officially announced Thursday that the release date for Avengers: Infinity War was moved from its previous May 4 release date up an entire week to April 27. This comes at the end of a witty back-and-forth between the official Marvel Studios Twitter account and Robert Downey Jr.

At first, the whole thing read like a playful bit of trolling that was too good to be true. Iron Man asked to “see it earlier” and Marvel Studios responded in kind with the new release date in April, tagging almost every core member of the Avengers team in the process.

If he wasn’t already, then Iron Man should become your favorite Avenger of all time after this one.

It’s tough to say how or why Marvel Studios decided to move up the release date, but using the Avengers “A” for “April” is a nice touch:

The film is a surefire win at the box office regardless of when it comes out, but the news that fans will now be able to see it a full week early is bound to drive tons of them into a frenzy.

Avengers: Infinity War will be the culmination of 10 years of Marvel Cinematic Universe storytelling. It all started in 2008 with Iron Man, so it’s only fitting that Tony Stark would be the one to bring us the good news.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released in theaters on May 4, 2018 April 27, 2018.
