Another Marvel Hero Confirms They’ll Have a Small Part in ‘Avengers 4’
Now that we’ve gotten a first look at The Wasp’s costumed debut, Marvel fans are probably excited to see the superhero join The Avengers. However, it seems she’ll play a small part in more ways than one, as the actress behind the hero revealed that while she’s in the upcoming Avengers 4, we won’t see much of her.
During a live Q&A on Instagram, Evangeline Lilly discussed her role in the upcoming Marvel film. “I will appear in Avengers 4, not very much, so don’t get your hopes up. Not going to be a ton. But I’m in there! And I’m proud to be in there, and I’m stoked to be in there,” she said.
Lilly made her debut as Hope Pym in Ant-Man, playing the daughter of Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, the original Ant-Man and Wasp. As seen in [the trailer for the upcoming Ant-Man and The Wasp Hope will be taking up the mantle of The Wasp.
While Avengers: Infinity War will see many of Marvel’s superheroes come together, it seems the following installment, which does not yet have a title, will see even more heroes join. In addition to Hope, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will also be among the new heroes appearing.
Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe began there have been questions about The Wasp’s involvement, given that her comic book counterpart is one of the group’s founding members. Obviously, the films went in another direction and Hope, the second Wasp, will be a relative latecomer to the team. In the comics, Janet van Dyne, who will be played by Michelle Pfeiffer in Ant-Man and The Wasp, was the one who founded the Avengers, but in the MCU, Janet vanished decades before Ant-Man when she shrank down to subatomic size.
While fans of the character may be disappointed in the character’s limited appearance in the film, the actress did provide some details about her experience feeling and it was a positive experience. “I had so much fun on the Avengers 4 film set because they made it like a party … It was this community, and it was fun, and people were really warm and kind,” she said.
The Wasp’s debut in Ant-Man and The Wasp has led to keeping Lilly out of other Marvel films. She didn’t appear alongside Paul Rudd in both Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War because the Wasp deserved a splashy debut, according to Lilly. Since Avengers 4 comes out after Ant-Man and the Wasp, she’ll have already made that debut and will be free to help out in her own small way.
Ant-Man and The Wasp will premiere on July 6, 2018, and Avengers: Infinity War will premiere May 4, 2018.
