Although Spider-Man fans have seen quite a bit of footage from the set of the upcoming, R-rated Venom movie starring Tom Hardy, there hasn’t been much in the way of legitimate promotional material. Sure, Hardy has Instagrammed a few times, but all fans really have to go on is one official picture of the actor in character as Eddie Brock, the Venom Symbiote’s eventual host. However, it seems like we’ll be getting a trailer for the highly anticipated movie in the next couple weeks.
On Friday, the website Trailer-Track noticed that the Manitoba Film Classification Board, the organization that rates movies, TV, and video games in one of Canada’s central provinces, had apparently rated a trailer for Venom. The trailer will be just over 90 seconds long, according to the Board’s website.
While this isn’t a sure sign that the first Venom trailer is imminent, the existence of a trailer that’s seemingly finished enough to receive a rating from our neighbors to the north is a promising sign for fans who want to see Venom in action. Trailer-Tack posits that the trailer should come out sometime in the next two weeks, perhaps debuting ahead of Marvel’s Black Panther, with premieres on February 16.
A trailer could go a long way towards confirming much of what fans think they know about Venom, including what parts of the two comics is based on will make the big screen, whether Carnage or Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will make an appearance, and what Hardy looks like in black Symbiote duds.
Venom opens on October 5, 2018.
