'Mission Impossible 6' Trailer: Tom Cruise's Craziest Stunts Yet
Also, see the mustache that caused big problems for 'Justice League.'
by James GrebeyThe Mission: Impossible movies are increasingly just vehicles for star Tom Cruise to do insane stunts, like climb the Burj Khalifa or hang on to the side of an actual plane as it takes off. The sixth movie in the franchise, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, which premiered its first trailer during the Super Bowl, is no exception, because Cruise is nothing if not an adrenaline junkie.
In Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Cruise clings on to the side of a helicopter, clings on to the side of a cliff face (and loses his grip and falls off), and drives a car straight into a truck. It’s unclear exactly how much Cruise did himself, but the 55-year-old actor doesn’t like to use stunt doubles.
As for the plot, Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, appears to once again be on the outs, and he and his team are suspected of having something to do with a catastrophic explosion. So, the usual.
In addition to Crusie, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg return as Hunt’s allies Luther and Benji. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation standout Rebecca Ferguson returns as well as highly trained operative Ilsa Faust. The sixth installment will also include the return of Michelle Monaghan’s Julia Meade-Hunt, who has not been seen since Mission: Impossible 3. Alec Baldwin and Sean Harris also reprise their roles from Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.
Henry Cavill, Vanessa Kirby, and Angela Bassett are among the new faces joining the franchise. Cavill, in particular, is noteworthy, as he sports a mustache that reportedly caused some major problems when Justice League was doing reshoots.
Mission: Impossible – Fallout is set for U.S. wide release on July 27, 2018.
