The thing about Jurassic Park is that, with the exception of the end of The Lost World, all you needed to do to avoid getting eaten by a dinosaur was to not go to Jurassic Park. That’s no longer the case based on the Super Bowl trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which brought dinosaurs into the bedroom.
The trailer, which aired early into the Eagles and Patriots game on Sunday night, opened with a lecherous-looking dinosaur peeking into the window of a young, understandably terrified girl. The first trailer for the movie was much more epic in scope, focused on the volcano that erupts on Isla Nublar at some point in the film, but the second trailer has smaller moments. If the raptor’s kitchen attack was one of the most thrilling parts of the original Jurassic Park, this genetically modified dinosaur’s hunt inside a young girl’s home should have some of the same thrills, ideally.
That said, this still looks like a big, huge movie, for better or worse. The second film in the new era of Jurassic Park films Fallen Kingdom is going to be epic. From what we know of the plot, it has been a few years and the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar have been roaming freely. That all changes when a volcanic eruption threatens to kill everything on the island. How at least one of those dinosaurs gets into the bedroom remains to be seen.
The film stars Bryce Dallas Howard as former Jurassic World park manager Claire Dearing, who now runs an organization dedicated to saving dinosaurs, and Chris Pratt as former dinosaur trainer Owen Grady.
Although original Jurassic Park actor Jeff Goldblum is returning as Dr. Ian Macolm for the movie, he did not appear in the Super Bowl trailer.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters on June 22, 2018.
