One Captain America Character Doesn’t Think They’ll Be in 'Infinity War'

Seems like Captain America will be living single in Avengers: Infinity War. While it seems every MCU is in the movie, Badass secret agent Sharon Carter, who also happens to be Cap’s love interest, will not be saving the day alongside the Avengers.

Emily VanCamp, who has appeared in two MCU films as Sharon Carter, will not be part of the film’s enormous cast. She explained why her appearance was hard to work into the movie during her AOL Build interview about the Fox medical drama The Resident.

“It’s hard to fit Sharon into that, she’s really in Cap’s world. She sort of fits into the Captain America movies, that’s where her sort of story lies,” she said.

The exclusion of a character like Sharon make sense considering the size of the cast. Characters from virtual every prior in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be making appearances. Mainstays like Iron Man and Black Widow as well as newer additions including Spider-Man and Doctor Strange will show up. In fact, Sharon Carter could be one of the few living characters not getting screen time.

Including Sharon Carter should not be considered out of the realm of possibility. VanCamp is a fixture in Captain America’s story and other characters introduced in his films as secondary roles are definitely appearing in the movie. Both Falcon and the Winter Soldier are two characters introduced as part of Captain America’s story who will be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War.

Sharon Carter made her MCU debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In the film, she was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent undercover as Steve Rogers’s neighbor tasked with keeping an eye on the hero as he adjusted to life in the present.

While the character did not have the largest role in the film, her character does have a substantial connection to the MCU and Steve Rogers. Her great aunt is Peggy Carter, Steve’s partner and first love in the first Captain America film, who founded S.H.I.E.L.D. Peggy Carter even went on to lead series Agent Carter on ABC.

Sharon’s connection to Steve, both romantic and through Peggy, was further explored in Captain America: Civil War. Working at the CIA after the dissolution of S.H.I.E.L.D., Sharon helped Captain America against the U.S. government’s wishes in order to save Bucky after the two reconnected at Peggy Carter’s funeral.

VanCamp did give a reason for fans to maintain their excitement. The actress stated that based on what she’s heard and knows the two-parter will be “epic.”
