As of Right Now, You Can Binge the MCU in 209 Hours (and 28 Minutes)

As of right now, there are 100 days until Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters. The window to catch up on the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe is starting to close, but it’s still theoretically possible to watch the entire thing if you commit eight whole days of non-stop viewing.

But there are more episodes of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on the docket, so the viewing time will only go up while the time to watch it all gets slimmer.

On Tuesday, the official Marvel Studios Twitter account posted a brief video marking down 100 days until the theatrical release of Avengers: Infinity War on May 4. While the film will not be the last movie in the “Phase Three” slate of films — 2019’s untitled Avengers 4 has that honor — Infinity War is undeniably a culmination of the last ten years of interconnected films and TV shows.

But ten years is a long time. It’s difficult for casual moviegoers or those with busy lives to see all the MCU has to offer. The shows produced by Marvel have multiple seasons, and many of Marvel’s film franchises, like Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man, wield entire trilogies. There’s a lot of sitting and watching, is what I’m saying, and it’s crazy to think of watching it all in a row. Which means you know people will make such an attempt.

In 2017, one Marvel superfan began a comprehensive spreadsheet that has stayed up-to-the-minute on the MCU, even now. In total, the MCU — including the films, Blu-ray “One Shots,” TV shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Inhumans, Marvel-Netflix, Runaways on Hulu, and both parts of Team Thor — will take eight days, 17 hours, and 28 minutes. And this number will change as soon as next week, when the next episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on ABC. And don’t forget Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger premiering on Freeform this spring!

Bit of advice: Do not do this. Do not watch all of the MCU, at least not in one sitting. If you feel compelled to, break it up into chunks. Watch one or two of the movies per day, or per weekend. And don’t even try to watch all of the TV shows. Even Marvel has sort of forgotten it makes TV, because none of the Defenders or the Runaways will be in Infinity War.

There’s no need to watch all of The Punisher if you haven’t, because Frank Castle isn’t going to show up in Infinity War to shoot Thanos with a shotgun.

If you’re all caught up on the MCU, congratulations on the commitment. If you haven’t, don’t worry. You don’t need to be.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4.
